Now I Remember

If these are the Seven Wonders of Gwinnett County, it's really easy to remember why I don't live there.

It's probably only one reason if you think about it, but the two main reasons are that the Bass Pro Shops is considered a wonder and the ratio of UGA:Tech fans approaches a limit of infinity minus one to one.

Are they going to do this for all the metro counties? If so, I'd like to submit some nominations for Clayton.

1) Tara Stadium, where Hines Ward single-handedly defeated every football team in the county at one time or another in the mid-90's. (Also where I learned how to back a trailer.)

2) The Morrow Public Library, possibly the most aesthetically offensive structure on the planet.

3) Stately Oaks, the likely model for Tara in Gone With the Wind (along with about 200 other plantation houses in Georgia).

4) First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, aka "Six Flags Over Jesus". Certainly not the biggest or tackiest of the megachurches, but definitely one of the first.

5) Spivey Hall. No joke here--it's the best concert hall I've ever seen/heard. I still can't believe it's in Clayton County.

6) The section of Mt. Zion Road that used to be called Morrow Industrial Boulvevard, which managed to be situated in the middle of one of the biggest development booms in human history without having so much as a single improvement made on it.

7) Harold's BBQ.

We always called the baptist church "The CathyDome." Truett Cathy most likely paid for a substantial portion of said structure.
